My Professor and I are recruiting Singapore citizen undergraduate students (private and public school) as participants for a survey leading to my research project to help predict the gambling behaviour. Please kindly support and read the information below before deciding whether or not to participate.
If you decide to participate we thank you. If you decide not to take part there will be no disadvantage to you of any kind and we thank you for considering our request. However, please take note that every completed survey submitted stands a chance to win a cash prize of S$100. On top of that, I am offering an extra S$30 for the the one that referred the lucky winner. Do share the event and you may stand to earn that extra S$30 cash.
The last day for you to take part in the survey ends on Sunday, the 25th March 2012.
To what extent can attitudes, impulsivity, sensation seeking, personality and injunctive norms predict the gambling behaviours among Singaporean undergraduate students?
1. What is the aim of the project?
This project aims to examine how extensively different attitudes, impulsivity level, sensation seeking level, personality and injunctive norms influence gambling behaviours among Singapore students and to what extent can we predict gambling behaviours using these five aspects.
2. What type of participants are being sought after?
Adult Singaporean undergraduate students (private n public school)
3. What will participants be asked to do?
Should you agree to take part in this project, you will be asked to complete five questionnaires. The questions will ask about attitudes towards gambling and gambling behaviour, impulsive behaviour, need for stimulation and your personality.
4. Can participants change their mind and withdraw from the project?
You may withdraw from the project at any time and without any disadvantage to yourself. You can choose not to complete the survey but once I submit my responses I will not be able to withdraw.
5. What data or information will be collected and what use will be made of it?
In this project, we are collecting data regarding five aspects; attitudes to gambling, gambling behaviour, sensation-seeking, impulsiveness and the personality of the participants. We will record your responses to the online survey without any identifying information. Once all the data are collected, they will be averaged across all participants to gain an overall idea of the extent to which the five aspects predict gambling among Singaporean undergraduate students.
All data included will be in no way identifiable to any specific participant. Do note that participants who have completed the survey will each be given a randomly assigned 6 digit pin number tagged to their survey. This pin serves the purpose for participants to withdraw their submission, should they choose to change their mind before 25th March 2012 and thus are eligible to participate in the lucky draw.
